past cities and towns
snaked the fabulous fabled silk road.

Weaving a web of routes and paths
all through Eurasia
was the fabulous fabled silk road.

Journeying from Xian to Baghdad,
traders, merchants and families
took the fabulous fabled silk road.

For two thousand years and more
trudging on winding paths,they traded
on the fabulous fabled silk road.

So I tip -toed out and turned off the light.
